BlogCatalog has som new APIs. Though they are not quite achieved, they can be of some use.
The thing is, they do not provide direct access to user informations. Also, they (well, I say “they”, there’s only two of them so far) retrieve far two many informations at once. In my tests, some users returns were greater than 60kb!
And more, you cannot yet retrieve information with email. This has to be done with username or an url of the catalog. You cannot even retrieve information with BC id, which is a real glitch.
With all that, getting an avatar from it is tricky. So why not do it?
As my avatar pictures are cached, it should not be a problem.
And so, you’re seeing the first ever wordpress plugin including BlogCatalog avatars!
(Well, maybe not, and anyway, you can’t see it as I’ve forced email input from commenters, but, who cares?)
