Post-Thumb Revisited: version 3 alpha 4
Changes:
- add EasyTube and videoWarrior in Youtube format recognize to thumbnail a post
- first fix on RecentImages
- some minor bug fixes
Installation:
- unzip file and upload it to plugin directory

Note: if some user could feedback on resource usage and behaviour on high traffic blog, I’d appreciate.

Hi! Great plugin, really!
I installed the last version today and it started giving problems: with the_random_thumb() set up with limit=9 it keeps on displaying a inferior number of thumbs, and always different! i checked the html and it always displays 9 ‘li class=”ptimg” ‘ but some of them (exactly the number of pics missing in that moment) appear empty!
Secondly, not the website got much slower… weird…
Ah, i already tried emptying the .thumb cache, forcing reload and so on.
Any idea or suggestion are welcome

I kept getting security errors and checked with my web host and they said it was a security setting on their end. My question to you: can you post specs on what a web server must have enabled to use the post thumb and maybe even offer suggestions on web hosts that you know work with this? I am using php thumb on the same server and figured they would both work, but guess not. Thanks

Bonjour je suis en train d’utiliser ton plugin mais il semble que j’ai un problème. Je souhaite modifier la taille des miniatures mais meme quand j’essaye de changer 120*120 par une autre valeur ça revient sur 120*120 (dans options des articles) j’ai aussi changer les valeurs dans options des miniatures mais pourtant je ne parviens pas à obtenir des miniatures plus grandes.
Sais tu comment résoudre ce problème?

Round corners are not tranperant in IE6, they are “pale blue”, see my site: http://www.hayadan.org.il/wp/
It show tranperant corners only on FF and IE7. Is there a solution?

i installed the PNG FIX but it does not work in my site.
i think it’s because the the_thumb() echo images without height and width attributes.

I’ve got a pretty high traffic site. Its seems to work fine, with no noticeable performance hit.
We do about 30-50 articles per day (we’re a newspaper). Sometimes different images might have the same filename…what happens is that post thumb will not re-generate in that case. It displays the same thumb for all the posts with the images of the same filename. Only happened twice so far.
Great Plugin. One of the best, I’ve come across and it’s completes Wordpress as a CMS.

hi alakhnor i got a problem , i think youtube just made an update this days and now when i add a video using embed code post thumb displays just the default youtube picture, it does not display the thumb. do you have any ideea?

Kes>You can use dirname=1 (1 specify the level of directory to include in the name) to specify different image source/thumbnail names. With PTR3, use link=n to display no thumb.

you know that if you delete an image from a post your plugin still shows the thumbnail on the user end, what is up with that? How do you stop this behavior?

Also, today the thumbs from two of my posts dosappeared, iv re edited the posts, delet them a recerated them, and its not working, it keeps showing the default thumbnail

Super plugin! D’après mes tests, je pense avoir rencontré deux problèmes. Je n’ai pas du tout regardé le code, donc ce n’est pas forcement pertinent mais voilà ce que j’ai observé :
- bug lorsque la première image de l’article contient un attribut alt ou title avec comme valeur quelque chose qui se termine par .jpg (ou .png, .gif, etc.)
Par exemple : alt=”toto.jpg”.
Ca peut arriver si on construit bêtement l’attribut alt en prenant le nom de l’image.
- bug lorsque l’on utilise dans l’attribut “src” de l’image des simple quote et non des doubles : “”
Voilà ! En espérant avoir aidé!

3rd forum area i found you have.
I found the answer to the link to thumb or post thing, thats fixed.
main thing i guess is your version numbers.
i found this plugin on the main wordpress extended site(should be a current version?) . right away it said it needed an upgrade from my auto upgrader, tryed it serveral times and it would never upgrade.
the top admin navigation for the options would not tab down to the correct areas.
went ahead and configured it anyway and got the problems stated in the other posts.
searched more thru the redundant forums and read about absolute paths and relative and fixed that manually thru the sql table.
also read about a excerpt functions that i did not see in the code, started to wonder about the version.
came back to this site, your post says version 3 alpha 4, your download link of “id=4″ downloads a version of 2.3.
now the admin panel is fix.
no update database(thumbnails)
and before default style was 2×8, now its 1×8, also noticed there is no post-thumbs-templates-plugin now.
this is really a great idea, hopefully you can help me to get it to work.
any questions please let me know

I downloaded the plugin, then it said that there was an upgrade… the only thing that upgraded successfully was Post Tube Player… Post Thumb and Post Thumb Widgets were deleted.

Works fine for me. Just generated 240 thumbs in one page with no problems.
The only problem i had so far, is that post thumbs plugins and post thumbs widget entries on the plugin panel say that they upgrade. If i upgrade the plugin is erased and replaced by post tube. It seems to be a problem with the WP Plugins repository? I mean, not a problem with the system, but it seems to be activated to check the version of post tube for those plugins…

Further testing shows that some youtube videos just don’t work. Ex : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T2DECDKOFnw
But adding a video that works with a video that doesn’t work in a post generates a thumb ! But removing the added video, the problem persists

Problem found.
The problematic videos were lacking some code like . Refetching the embeded code solves the problem.

un seul souci, sur mon blog… ca marche pas. au lieu d’afficher une belle petite image a coté de mon excerpt et bien il me remets le titre du post ??? j ai parcouru pas mal le forum et je trouve pas de reponse desolé donc de flooder avec ce genre de question qui ne doit pas beaucoup faire avancer la finalisation de la derniere version du plugin

The plugins worked for me perfectly no issues, but when I activated a excerpt editor plugin the post thumb plugin cannot executes the image class I added. It seems like clashes between the plugins and somehow disable certain functionality of post thumb plugin.

Cool plugin, but two problems. First, upon activating it, it created tons of slow mysql queries, which crashed my site because it exceeded the cpu query limits.
second, your site is not accessible in firefox 3. I get constant Reported Attack Site messages that impeded the navigation.

This plugin seems to be great but it doesn’t work for me

I´ve installed the Post-Thumb in wordpress Mu 1.5 (WP2.6).
But it seem that the Post-Thumb can´t find the images to create the thumbs.
It always generates the default image sized and always shows the default image… but there is images in wp-content/blogs.dir/1/2008/07
get_settings(’upload_path’) is wp-content/blogs.dir/1/
something abot WP mu?

Hi. I’ve been trying your plugin on several wordpress version and it works brilliantly on versions up to 2.3 . On newer versions I get an error :”Update error: Cannot create test thumbnail.” . Do you know what can be the problem ?

I have installed post thumb on the front page and it is working fine (nice popup)
But when I am browsing on my site and trying the post thumb again then it will not popup and send me directly to youtube to watch the movie.
Is this a Alpha bug or can I force this plugin to use always the popup?

It seems your plugin does not work with K2’s version of sidebar manager. Your old plugin DID however work well with it.
Basically I have disabled wordpress widgets and your plugin will not Activate correctly. It gives me this error:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function wp_register_sidebar_widget() in /nfs/c02/h02/mnt/23368/domains/teampolizeihq.com/html/wp-content/plugins/post-thumb/post-thumb-widgets.php on line 93

An autoupgrade link references to PostTube, which I believe is incorrect.
Breaks (erases) the plugin if clicked.

I just downloaded the zipfile but the “random posts” was not displaying anything. I found that line #78 in the file “post-thumb-widgets.php” was commented : just uncomment it and the widget will work. Any clue why this line is commented ?

IS it possible to fix the site ? i have warning message from Safari, Google and so on. The site is nearly unusable cause each page of the site get TWO warning messages… ! And its not new. You’re in the Google database for some reasons…
The ReadMe are not very clear IMHO, so THAT don’t help either.

Hi,
I’ve been using your plugin for about a year but lately, it doesn’t seem to be working well with my web server. I think something changed on my end for this to happen and I was hoping you could tell me what.
Occasionally, when posts a new entry and the thumbnail function is called - it stops processing the PHP. Sometimes it even generates a PHP Access violation. I can create new thumbnails, again this only happens a small percentage of the time - but to fix it, I have to restart my server.
I’m running WordPress 2.7.1 on an IIS Server with PHP Version 5.2.8 and mySQL 5.0.51a.
I can email you a spitout of the phpinfo if that helps.
Any ideas? Thanks.

You should make a Google search “thumbnail wordpress”, Nlx. There is some plugin like this one even one not free !
