Upcoming wordTube
Alex Rabe is a nice guy and has done a tremendous job on WordPress plugins. However, Nextgen gallery is biting all his time. Neither him nor me, would let down wordTube which is both very popular and a quality plugin.
That is why I’m now working on wordTube development. My first release was version 1.60 where most was updating for WordPress 2.5.
Next version will continue to integrate into WordPress 2.5: wordTube button will move to the media bar (then be accessible under any form of editor). It will also integrate tag management, enable Youtube and give a nice list of related media in the Youtube way at the end of each play.
Jeroen’s flash player is improving every day. It includes more and more stunning features.

I have a problem with this (amazing) plugin. Almost everything works perfect except volume control. I’m unable to mute sound or to lower/higher volume level. I didn’t find anyone who had similar problems. Please help. I’m running latest version of Word Tube on my WPMU 1.5 installation which is actually modified WP 2.5. I tried to deactivate all the plugins but nothing changed. Before Word Tube I had this plugin instaled: http://www.mac-dev.net/blog/ and I didn’t have similar problems with it.
Another question. Why can’t I see ‘Media Center’ files inside ‘Media Library’

Another thing… I was using .swf file. It is video tutorial captured with Camtasia Studio screen recorder.

Another issue. Everything seemed to work fine with You Tube video but it’s not. First time I linked You Tube video as new media file it didn’t work properly. I could see You Tube logo inside player window but I nothing happened whan I press play button. Than I edited that media file and added different You Tube video URL. It worked fine. But all other You Tube videos I tried to add to play list did not work properly. No video, just You Tube logo.

Pain in the ass, I know… I just installed mac-dev’s flash player plugin again. Also unable to mute sound. I’m sure it worked before.

It’s not recommended to play swf files with the player. Best is to encode it in flv. Basically, swf bring its own feature to be played and the player will only things which will cause trouble unless it’s encoded in a very specific way. (I guess any flash player can have the same kind of problem).
For youtube: it seems weird.
So you’re saying:
- you create a new media with a Youtube link (in Media center). It doesn’t work properly.
- Then if you modify this same media, with some other youtube link, it works.

First of all sorry for not posting this stuff inside Forum. I only realized few minutes ago that you have one. Yes, you were right, .flv file works perfect.

Actually this method worked only once and never again… for those specific videos. Later I managed to include some other You Tube videos inside my playlist. I don’t what could cause such behavior. I heard before that some flash players have problems with URL’s containing character ‘&’… who knows.

Forgot to tell You this. When I use ‘Insert a Flash Video’ button I get this message:

Excuses accepted
For url: it is encoded so ‘&’ shouldn’t be a problem (especially as the player has been design to accept youtube links). So, I honestly don’t know what could comes wrong. Do you have a link on the site to see how the player is embedded?
The error probably comes from WPmu specifics. It searches for a file which was in prior-to-WP2.5 installations. So I guess, as WPmu version is 1.5 (or so), wordTube doesn’t recognize the proper version.

Is it possible to have the http://www.jeroenwijering.com player customized more. Say have it default to a certain category (say featured or podcasts) on a certain page in the template? I would like to have multiple players and in a sense replace the play list with this other player. Maybe some other options?
We have money, will you do any custom work or modifications for us?

Also, with posttube, it seems to always have the first video/audio loaded no matter what the playlist selected. Is there a way to change this?

1. No. Currently, wordTube only supports local stream (flv) and Youtube. rtmp support will be in next version. Quicktime is not supported by the flash player (which wordTube depends upon).

Like how revver and now youtube are showing ads on the bottom of the videos, google ads and so fourth. Either along the bottom of the player or after the video itself. Actually, there is a possibility to add ads into the flash player, but it’s only accessible if you buy a commercial license of it.
